### Job Summary:
The Attorney General in the field of Information Technology will serve as the chief legal advisor to the government of Dubai on matters relating to technology, digital transformation, data protection, cybersecurity, and emerging tech legislation. This role demands a robust understanding of both legal frameworks and the technological landscape, ensuring that the government’s initiatives in IT are compliant with local and international laws while also advocating for the rights and protections of citizens in the digital realm.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Consultation: Provide expert legal advice to government entities on issues related to technology, including but not limited to software licensing, intellectual property rights, data privacy, and cybersecurity laws.
- Legislative Development: Draft, review, and propose legislation pertinent to information technology, ensuring alignment with global standards and local needs. Collaborate with lawmakers and other stakeholders to formulate effective policies.
- Regulatory Oversight: Supervise the implementation of IT regulations and guidelines, ensuring compliance with established laws. Monitor emerging technologies and assess their legal implications.
- Crisis Management: Act as a key advisor during cybersecurity incidents, data breaches, or other IT-related crises. Develop legal strategies to address and mitigate risks associated with such events.
- Public Advocacy: Represent the government in public forums and discussions regarding technology and its impact on society. Promote awareness and understanding of IT-related legal issues among the public and stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various governmental departments, law enforcement agencies, and external organizations to foster a cohesive approach to IT law enforcement and regulation.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to government officials and employees on compliance with IT-related laws and regulations.
- Research and Analysis: Stay updated on local and international technology laws and trends. Conduct thorough research to inform legal opinions and recommendations.
### Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree in law from an accredited institution. A specialization in Information Technology law or Cybersecurity Law is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal role focusing on Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related fields. Experience working within a government or regulatory body is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of local and international IT regulations, data protection laws, and intellectual property rights.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Proficient in legal research and writing.
- Certifications: Admission to practice law in Dubai or relevant jurisdiction is mandatory; additional certifications in IT law or cybersecurity are advantageous.
