Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Genetic Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team in Dubai, focusing on innovative agricultural solutions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our genetic engineering projects aimed at improving crop yields, disease resistance, and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct genetic engineering experiments and research related to plant genetics and biotechnology.
- Assist in the design and execution of genetic modification protocols, including CRISPR/Cas9 and other gene-editing technologies.
- Perform molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and sequencing.
- Collaborate with plant breeders and agronomists to develop genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that meet agricultural needs.
- Analyze experimental data, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to the research team and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and adhere to safety regulations and ethical guidelines regarding genetic engineering practices.
- Support greenhouse operations by monitoring plant growth, health, and development of genetically modified plants.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in genetic engineering and biotechnology through literature review and professional development.
- Assist in the training of junior staff and interns in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Genetics, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in genetic engineering, molecular biology, or a related area, preferably in an agricultural context.
- Proficient in laboratory techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and tissue culture.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software for data analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience in greenhouse management and plant propagation techniques.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance aspects related to genetic modification in agriculture.
- Experience with field trials and data collection for genetically engineered crops.
