Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Museum Operations Manager to oversee and enhance the retail operations within our esteemed museum in Sharjah. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for cultural heritage and exceptional management skills, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Retail Management: Oversee the daily operations of the museum retail store, including inventory management, visual merchandising, and sales strategies. Ensure the store reflects the museum’s brand and enhances the visitor experience.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise retail staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training to ensure high standards of customer service.
- Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the retail budget, monitor sales performance, and implement strategies to achieve financial targets. Analyze financial reports and provide insights to improve profitability.
- Visitor Engagement: Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns that drive traffic to the retail store. Engage with visitors to gather feedback and enhance the retail experience based on their needs and preferences.
- Inventory Control: Maintain optimal inventory levels by managing purchasing, receiving, and stock rotation. Conduct regular inventory audits to minimize losses and ensure product availability.
- Collaboration with Curatorial Teams: Work closely with curators and exhibition teams to align retail offerings with current exhibitions and programs. Develop exclusive merchandise that complements museum themes and events.
- Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing special events and programs that drive retail sales and enhance visitor engagement. Collaborate with other departments to create cohesive experiences for visitors.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as museum policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Museum Studies, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in a cultural or museum setting.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in inventory management systems and retail point-of-sale (POS) software.
- Exceptional communication skills in both English and Arabic, with the ability to interact effectively with visitors and stakeholders.
