Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and professional Court Interpreter with a background in healthcare to provide linguistically and culturally appropriate interpretation services in legal settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both legal and medical terminology, enabling effective communication between healthcare professionals, patients, and the court. This role is crucial in ensuring that all parties involved can understand and be understood, thereby promoting equitable access to healthcare and justice.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide high-quality interpretation services during court proceedings, medical examinations, and legal consultations, ensuring accurate and complete communication between all parties.
- Translate legal documents, medical reports, and other relevant materials as needed, maintaining the integrity and meaning of the original text.
- Facilitate communication for non-English speaking patients and their families, ensuring they understand their rights, medical conditions, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure that medical terminology is accurately conveyed in both directions, including patient history, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines for interpreters, including confidentiality, impartiality, and professionalism.
- Attend ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance interpreting skills and stay updated on legal and medical terminology.
- Assist in the preparation of cases by providing contextual understanding of cultural nuances that may affect communication.
- Respond to emergency interpretation requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate records of interpretation services provided and submit reports as required.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Interpreting, Law, Healthcare, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional interpreting experience, preferably in legal and healthcare settings.
- Fluency in both English and at least one other language (Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, etc.), with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Certification from a recognized interpreting body (e.g., NAJIT, RID, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare laws, patient rights, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while interpreting complex information.
- Cultural competence and awareness of the diverse populations served in Dubai.
