Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Deckhand to join our team based in Sharjah. The ideal candidate will assist in the seamless operation of our vessels while ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This position is particularly suited for individuals passionate about maritime activities and eager to contribute to educational programs on board.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the daily operations of the vessel, including mooring, anchoring, and securing the vessel.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including cleaning, painting, and repairing equipment and facilities on the deck.
- Collaborate with the crew to facilitate educational activities and programs while ensuring a safe learning environment for all participants.
- Monitor and maintain safety equipment to ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations.
- Actively participate in safety drills and training sessions to enhance knowledge of emergency protocols.
- Support the crew in managing and maintaining inventory supplies and equipment on board.
- Engage with participants in educational programs, providing assistance and guidance as required.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, particularly those related to health and safety.
- Assist in the navigation and operation of small boats or tenders as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with the crew and educational staff to support program objectives.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional maritime certifications are a plus.
- Minimum of 1-5 years of experience in a deckhand or similar role within the maritime industry.
- Basic knowledge of maritime safety protocols and equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work in varying weather conditions.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new skills relevant to the maritime and educational sectors.

Skills:

- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and interact positively with participants of varying ages.
- Proficient in basic maintenance and repair tasks related to vessels.

Additional Information:

This position may require occasional travel and flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on operational needs and educational programs scheduled.
