Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Hazardous Materials Coordinator to join our dynamic team in the energy sector based in Dubai. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and compliant management of hazardous materials throughout our operations. This position requires a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, risk assessment, and effective communication with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to local, national, and international regulations regarding the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Stay updated on relevant legislation and best practices in hazardous materials management.
2. Risk Assessment:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments related to the use and management of hazardous materials.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans.
3. Training and Awareness:
- Design and deliver training programs for staff on the safe handling of hazardous materials and emergency response procedures.
- Foster a culture of safety and awareness regarding hazardous materials among all employees.
4. Inventory Management:
- Oversee the inventory of hazardous materials on-site, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation.
- Coordinate the safe disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with regulations.
5. Incident Investigation:
- Investigate incidents involving hazardous materials, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies.
6. Collaboration:
- Work closely with various departments, including Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Operations, and Supply Chain, to ensure integrated hazardous materials management.
- Liaise with external agencies, contractors, and vendors regarding hazardous materials compliance and best practices.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of hazardous materials usage, training sessions, incidents, and compliance activities.
- Prepare regular reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
8. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in hazardous materials management and implement best practices.
- Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for enhancement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in hazardous materials management or a related field, preferably within the energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with hazardous materials management software is a plus.
- Certification in hazardous materials management or related areas (e.g., HAZWOPER, ISO 14001) is preferred.
