Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Hazardous Waste Technician to join our team in the consumer goods industry in Dubai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste materials in compliance with local regulations and company policies. This role is essential in maintaining a safe work environment and promoting sustainable practices within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

- Waste Management: Oversee the collection, segregation, packaging, and labeling of hazardous waste materials in accordance with local and international regulations.

- Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations related to hazardous waste management, including adherence to local, regional, and national regulations.

- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of hazardous waste disposal activities, including manifests, tracking forms, and compliance reports.

- Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce safety protocols for hazardous waste handling and transport, ensuring all staff are trained and aware of safety procedures.

- Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and disposal sites to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

- Training: Facilitate training sessions for employees on hazardous waste management practices, safety procedures, and emergency response protocols.

- Emergency Response: Assist in emergency response procedures for hazardous waste spills, leaks, or incidents, including containment and cleanup efforts.

- Continuous Improvement: Participate in waste minimization initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices for hazardous waste management.

- Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, such as production, logistics, and maintenance, to ensure efficient waste management practices are integrated into daily operations.

Qualifications:

- Education: A degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Waste Management, or a related field is preferred.

- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in hazardous waste management or a related field, preferably within the consumer goods industry.

- Certifications: Relevant certifications in hazardous waste management (such as HAZWOPER) are highly desirable.

- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of local and international hazardous waste regulations and best practices.

- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.

- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with hazardous waste management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 25 kg) and perform physical tasks associated with hazardous waste management.
- Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoor settings and industrial facilities.
