Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Administrator to join our healthcare facility in Sharjah. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality of patient information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and management of all patient medical records, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures for the handling of medical records in accordance with local laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Regularly audit medical records for completeness and compliance, addressing any discrepancies or issues identified.
- Ensure the secure storage and retrieval of electronic and paper-based medical records while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and IT personnel to optimize the medical records management system.
- Respond to requests for patient information from authorized personnel and external agencies in a timely and professional manner.
- Facilitate the transition from paper-based records to electronic health records (EHR) systems, including data entry, conversion, and training of staff.
- Provide training and support to medical staff on proper documentation practices and the use of medical records systems.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and regulations related to medical records management and health information technology.
- Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery plans for medical records.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in medical records administration or health information management in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and healthcare regulations (HIPAA, local laws, etc.).
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical records management software.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or similar credential is preferred but not mandatory.
