Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Mine Safety Specialist to join our team in Abu Dhabi, focusing on the agricultural sector. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of mining operations related to agricultural land use, particularly in areas involving soil extraction, mineral deposits, and other related activities. This position requires a strong understanding of mining safety regulations, risk assessment, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all mining operations adhere to local, national, and international safety regulations and standards related to agricultural practices. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance.
- Risk Assessment: Perform comprehensive risk assessments for mining operations, identifying potential hazards and implementing control measures to mitigate risks associated with mining activities in agricultural areas.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs for staff and contractors on safe mining practices, emergency response procedures, and the importance of adhering to safety protocols.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into safety incidents and accidents, documenting findings and making recommendations to prevent future occurrences. Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans specific to mining operations in agricultural settings, ensuring that all personnel are familiar with procedures and equipment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with agricultural managers, engineering teams, and environmental specialists to integrate safety practices into all aspects of mining and agricultural operations.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Continuously monitor mining activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Prepare and present reports on safety performance metrics to management and stakeholders.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures tailored to mining operations in agricultural environments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mine safety, preferably within the agricultural sector.
- Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Proven experience in risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across various teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using safety management software and tools.
- Certifications in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are a plus.

- Must be willing to travel to various mining sites as required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and in remote locations.
