Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Purchasing Operations Manager to join our dynamic team in the Aerospace and Defense sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement and supply chain management, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the unique requirements and regulations of the aerospace and defense industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services necessary for production and operational efficiency.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to secure the best value, quality, and delivery schedules. Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Cost Management: Analyze market trends and pricing to maintain budgetary control. Implement cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for improving procurement processes.
- Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management processes to ensure optimal stock levels, minimizing excess and obsolescence while ensuring availability of critical materials and components.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to understand their procurement needs and ensure alignment with operational goals. Facilitate communication between departments to enhance workflow and efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with relevant aerospace and defense regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations and best practices.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement. Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and market trends to senior management. Utilize data analytics to make informed purchasing decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPS, APICS) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
- Proficient in procurement software and tools, as well as MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and compliance standards relevant to aerospace and defense is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
