Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Academic Dean to lead our Aerospace and Defense academic programs in Dubai. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in higher education, with a focus on aerospace and defense studies, and will demonstrate a commitment to advancing academic excellence, fostering innovation, and enhancing student success. The Academic Dean will oversee curriculum development, faculty management, student engagement, and strategic initiatives to ensure our institution remains at the forefront of aerospace and defense education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Aerospace and Defense academic programs.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, collaboration, and innovation among faculty, staff, and students.
- Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and facilities to ensure optimal program delivery.
- Curriculum Development:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative and relevant curricula in aerospace and defense.
- Ensure that academic programs are aligned with industry standards and emerging trends.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate research, practical experiences, and hands-on learning opportunities into the curriculum.
- Faculty Development:
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Encourage and support faculty research, scholarship, and participation in professional organizations.
- Promote a collegial environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Student Engagement and Success:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance student recruitment, retention, and graduation rates.
- Oversee academic advising and support services to ensure students receive the necessary guidance to succeed.
- Foster a dynamic learning environment that encourages student involvement in research, internships, and industry partnerships.
- Strategic Planning and Partnerships:
- Collaborate with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and educational institutions to establish partnerships that enhance program relevance and student opportunities.
- Participate in institutional strategic planning, accreditation processes, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Represent the institution at conferences, workshops, and community events to promote the Aerospace and Defense programs.
Qualifications:
- A Doctorate degree in Aerospace Engineering, Defense Studies, Education, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in academic administration or leadership roles within higher education, preferably in aerospace and defense.
- Proven track record of curriculum development, faculty management, and student engagement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of the aerospace and defense industry and emerging trends in education and technology.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in international education settings, particularly in the Middle East.
- Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and departments.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards and processes relevant to aerospace and defense programs.
