Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Aquarium Technician to join our team in Al Ain, specializing in the unique intersection of aquarium management and the Aerospace and Defense sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aquatic biology, marine ecosystem management, and will be skilled in the maintenance and operation of aquariums, particularly in environments that support research and development related to aerospace and defense technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Aquarium Maintenance: Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of aquariums, ensuring optimal water quality, temperature, and living conditions for aquatic life. Regularly monitor and adjust water chemistry parameters, including pH, salinity, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.

- Animal Care: Provide high-quality care for aquatic species, including feeding, health monitoring, and behavioral observation. Administer treatments for any observed health issues and collaborate with veterinarians to ensure the well-being of the aquatic animals.

- Research Support: Assist in research projects that involve aquatic species, contributing to data collection and analysis. Support experiments that may involve bioassays or environmental monitoring relevant to aerospace and defense applications.

- Equipment Management: Operate and maintain aquarium filtration systems, pumps, and other equipment. Troubleshoot any mechanical issues and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.

- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of aquarium conditions, animal health, feeding schedules, and maintenance activities. Prepare regular reports for management and participate in project meetings to discuss findings and recommendations.

- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Implement best practices for biosecurity and risk management within the aquarium environment.

- Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, researchers, and environmental scientists, to support projects that integrate marine biology with aerospace and defense initiatives.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Aquatic Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in aquarium maintenance and animal care, preferably in a research or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of aquatic ecosystems, species identification, and marine biology principles.
- Experience with laboratory techniques and data analysis.
- Proficient in the use of aquarium systems, water quality testing equipment, and maintenance tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills:

- Knowledge of biosecurity protocols and environmental regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with the aerospace and defense industry is an advantage but not required.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 25 kg.
- Comfortable working in an aquatic environment and handling live animals.
