Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Art Curator to join our team in the telecommunications sector in Sharjah. The ideal candidate will have a passion for art and a deep understanding of its intersection with technology and telecommunications. This role will involve curating and managing art exhibitions, developing educational programs, and enhancing the cultural engagement of our organization through art.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Exhibition Curation:
- Develop and curate exhibitions that align with our organizational goals and showcase the relationship between art and telecommunications.
- Select and acquire artworks from local, regional, and international artists, ensuring diversity and representation.
- Collaborate with artists to create site-specific installations or projects that reflect contemporary themes in technology and communication.
2. Research and Development:
- Conduct thorough research on contemporary art trends, artists, and movements, particularly those linked to technology and telecommunications.
- Stay informed about emerging artists and innovations in the art world, and analyze their relevance to our mission.
3. Educational Programming:
- Design and implement educational programs, workshops, and lectures that engage the community and promote an understanding of the connection between art and telecommunications.
- Collaborate with schools, universities, and cultural institutions to foster art appreciation and participation among diverse audiences.
4. Community Engagement:
- Cultivate relationships with local artists, art organizations, and the community to promote art initiatives and collaborations.
- Organize outreach programs and events to increase public engagement and participation in our art initiatives.
5. Collection Management:
- Oversee the care, maintenance, and documentation of the art collection, ensuring it is preserved and displayed appropriately.
- Develop and manage budgets related to exhibitions, acquisitions, and educational programs.
6. Marketing and Promotion:
- Work closely with the marketing team to promote exhibitions and programs through various channels, including social media, press releases, and community events.
- Create engaging content for newsletters, websites, and social media platforms to highlight exhibitions and events.
7. Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, public relations, and events, to ensure successful execution of art initiatives.
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall vision of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Arts Management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in curatorial practice, exhibition management, or a similar role within the arts or cultural sector.
- Strong understanding of contemporary art and its relationship with technology and telecommunications.
- Proven experience in project management and community engagement.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in both English and Arabic is preferred.
