Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Environmental Compliance Specialist Assistant to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will support the Environmental Compliance Specialist in ensuring that our operations adhere to local, national, and international environmental regulations. This role is vital in promoting sustainable practices within our consumer goods operations and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance:
- Assist in the monitoring and assessment of compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and standards applicable to the consumer goods industry.
- Support the preparation and submission of required environmental documentation and reports to regulatory agencies.
2. Data Management:
- Collect, analyze, and maintain data related to environmental performance and compliance metrics.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of compliance databases and tracking systems.
3. Auditing and Reporting:
- Participate in environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and areas for improvement.
- Compile and assist in the preparation of compliance reports for management and regulatory authorities.
4. Sustainability Initiatives:
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives within the organization.
- Assist in the promotion of best practices for waste management, resource conservation, and pollution prevention.
5. Training and Awareness:
- Help develop training materials and conduct training sessions for employees on environmental compliance and sustainability practices.
- Foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization by engaging employees in compliance initiatives.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Assist in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including governmental bodies, NGOs, and community groups, on environmental compliance issues.
- Support the Environmental Compliance Specialist in communication and reporting to senior management regarding environmental performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, or a related field, preferably within the consumer goods industry.
- Familiarity with UAE environmental regulations and international standards (such as ISO 14001) is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with environmental management software is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
