Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Film Archivist to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi, focusing on the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a passion for film preservation and archival management, paired with a keen understanding of the energy industry. This role is vital in curating, preserving, and managing a diverse collection of film materials that document the history and advancements in energy.

Key Responsibilities:

- Archival Management: Develop and maintain an organized archival system for film and digital media related to energy projects, initiatives, and historical documentation.

- Preservation: Implement best practices for the preservation of film materials, including proper storage, handling, and restoration techniques to ensure the longevity and accessibility of the collection.

- Cataloging: Create and maintain detailed catalog records, including metadata and descriptions of film content, ensuring easy retrieval and access for research and educational purposes.

- Research and Documentation: Conduct thorough research to identify, acquire, and preserve films related to the energy sector, including historical documentaries, promotional films, and educational materials.

- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as marketing, communications, and educational outreach, to promote the use of archived materials for various projects and initiatives.

- Digital Archiving: Assist in the digitization of film materials and the development of digital archives that are accessible to stakeholders and the public while ensuring compliance with copyright and licensing laws.

- Exhibits and Presentations: Assist in the preparation and organization of exhibitions, presentations, and screenings that showcase the history of energy through film, engaging the community and promoting awareness.

- Training and Education: Provide training and support to staff and interns on archival practices, film preservation techniques, and the importance of film heritage in the energy sector.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies, Archival Science, Library Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in film archiving, preservation, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of archival practices, film preservation techniques, and relevant software tools for cataloging and digital archiving.
- Familiarity with the energy sector and its historical context is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in digital asset management systems and archival software.
- A passion for film and history, with a commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
