Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team in the retail sector based in Dubai. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our operations align with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives, while also promoting corporate social responsibility within the retail industry.

Key Responsibilities:

- Environmental Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international environmental laws and regulations. Conduct regular audits to assess adherence to environmental policies and procedures.

- Sustainability Initiatives: Develop, implement, and oversee sustainability programs aimed at reducing the environmental impact of retail operations. Collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainable practices into business strategies.

- Impact Assessments: Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new retail projects and expansions. Analyze data to identify potential environmental risks and propose mitigation strategies.

- Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data related to air, water, and soil quality. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, including management and regulatory bodies.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with government agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups to promote environmental awareness and engage in dialogue on sustainability issues.

- Training and Development: Provide training and support to staff on environmental policies and best practices. Foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization.

- Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest environmental science research and sustainability trends. Identify opportunities for innovation in environmental practices and technologies that can be adopted within the retail sector.

- Project Management: Lead and manage environmental projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in environmental science, preferably within the retail sector.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards in the UAE and internationally.
- Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments and audits.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in using environmental data analysis software and tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
