Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Underwriting Assistant to join our underwriting team in the consumer goods sector. The successful candidate will support the underwriting process by gathering and analyzing information, preparing documentation, and assisting underwriters in making informed decisions. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist underwriters in evaluating insurance applications by gathering necessary documentation and information from clients and brokers.
- Review and analyze risk factors related to consumer goods, including product liability, market trends, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare detailed underwriting reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for underwriting decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of all underwriting activities, including application submissions, correspondence, and policy documents.
- Communicate with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to clarify information and resolve any issues that may arise during the underwriting process.
- Monitor and track existing policies for renewal and endorsement opportunities, ensuring timely follow-ups and compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with the claims department to provide support in the assessment of claims related to consumer goods, ensuring that underwriting practices align with risk management strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in underwriting within the consumer goods sector.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance underwriting knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in underwriting or a related field, preferably within the insurance or consumer goods industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with underwriting software and tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
