Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mine Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dubai. This position is focused on ensuring the safety and compliance of mining operations through the integration of advanced information technology solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mining safety, risk management, and technology implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Assessment: Conduct comprehensive safety assessments of mining operations to identify potential hazards and risks. Utilize data analysis and modeling software to predict outcomes and enhance safety protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all mining activities comply with local, national, and international safety regulations. Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies tailored to specific mining operations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop mitigation measures and emergency response plans.
- Data Analysis: Analyze safety performance data and trends to identify areas for improvement. Leverage information technology tools to collect, process, and evaluate safety-related data efficiently.
- Training and Development: Design and implement training programs for staff on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the use of safety equipment. Ensure all personnel are aware of safety practices and reporting procedures.
- Technology Integration: Work closely with IT teams to adopt and integrate new technologies that enhance safety in mining operations. This includes the use of software for monitoring, reporting, and managing safety incidents.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to mine safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine safety or a related field, with a focus on information technology applications in safety management.
- Strong knowledge of local and international mining safety regulations and standards.
- Proficient in safety management software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies and safety audits.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in the mining sector, such as automation, IoT, and AI applications for safety.
