Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Molecular Biologist to join our dynamic team focused on advancing agricultural biotechnology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and genetics, with a passion for applying scientific research to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to develop improved crop varieties and contribute to food security in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research and Development:
- Design and conduct experiments to explore molecular mechanisms underlying plant growth, development, and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
- Utilize molecular techniques such as PCR, sequencing, gene cloning, and CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing to improve crop traits.
- Analyze gene expression and regulation using quantitative PCR, northern blotting, and other molecular assays.

2. Data Analysis and Interpretation:
- Employ bioinformatics tools to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.
- Interpret experimental results and prepare comprehensive reports, including statistical analyses and graphical presentations.

3. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including agronomists, plant breeders, and field researchers, to integrate molecular findings with practical applications in agriculture.
- Present research findings at internal meetings and external conferences, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.

4. Laboratory Management:
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Train and mentor junior researchers and technicians in molecular biology techniques and best practices.

5. Project Management:
- Assist in the development of project proposals, budgets, and timelines.
- Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are met within designated time frames.

Qualifications:

- A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Plant Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in molecular biology, particularly in agricultural applications.
- Proficient in molecular techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, sequencing, and genetic transformation.
- Experience in bioinformatics and data analysis software is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills:

- Familiarity with plant breeding techniques and agricultural practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
- Experience in field trials and phenotypic analysis of crops.
