Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Application Engineering Manager to lead our application engineering team in the retail sector. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in software development and engineering management, with a particular focus on retail applications. You will play a crucial role in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of innovative applications that enhance our retail operations and improve customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

- Team Leadership: Manage a team of application engineers, providing direction, mentorship, and support to ensure high-performance standards and professional development.

- Project Management: Oversee multiple application development projects from conception to deployment, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while meeting quality standards.

- Application Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Lead the design and development of applications that align with the company’s retail strategies.

- Technical Expertise: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in retail applications. Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and processes to improve application performance and efficiency.

- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with product management, marketing, and operations teams to ensure alignment of application capabilities with business objectives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on project status.

- Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain best practices for application development and testing. Ensure applications are thoroughly tested and validated prior to deployment.

- Performance Monitoring: Implement monitoring tools and processes to track application performance and user feedback, using insights to drive continuous improvement.

- Budget Management: Assist in budget planning and management for application engineering projects, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in application engineering, software development, or a similar role, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Proven experience in retail application development, such as point-of-sale systems, e-commerce platforms, or inventory management systems.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and project management principles.
- Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks relevant to retail applications (e.g., Java, C#, .NET, React, etc.).
- Experience with cloud technologies and services (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
