Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Art Conservator to join our dynamic team in Dubai, specializing in the preservation and conservation of art within the energy sector. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of art conservation techniques, materials science, and the specific challenges associated with conserving artworks in an environment that intersects with energy production and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct assessments of artworks and artifacts related to energy themes, identifying conservation needs and recommending appropriate treatments.
- Execute conservation treatments on various media including paintings, sculptures, textiles, and mixed media installations, ensuring the integrity and longevity of the works.
- Develop and implement conservation protocols and guidelines that align with international best practices, particularly in relation to energy sector artworks.
- Collaborate with artists, curators, and other stakeholders to ensure the preservation of artworks during exhibitions, installations, and relocations.
- Conduct scientific analyses of materials used in artworks to inform conservation strategies, using techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and other diagnostic tools.
- Maintain detailed records of conservation treatments, including documentation of materials used, methods applied, and the condition of artworks before and after treatment.
- Engage in research related to the history, theory, and practice of art conservation, with a focus on sustainability and innovative conservation techniques relevant to the energy sector.
- Provide educational workshops and presentations on art conservation practices for staff, artists, and the public to promote awareness of the importance of preserving art in an energy-focused context.
- Stay current with advancements in conservation science, materials, and techniques through continuous professional development and participation in relevant conferences and workshops.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Art Conservation, Fine Arts, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in art conservation, with a focus on contemporary artworks and materials.
- Proven experience in the conservation of artworks related to environmental themes or the energy sector is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of conservation ethics, standards, and practices.
- Proficiency in the use of conservation tools and materials, as well as analytical techniques for evaluating artworks.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex conservation concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Skills:

- Familiarity with digital imaging and documentation software.
- Knowledge of sustainable practices in art conservation and the energy sector.
- Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus, especially Arabic and English.
