Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to lead our legal department in the fast-paced pharmaceutical industry. The CLO will play a pivotal role in shaping our legal and compliance strategies, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations while supporting the company’s growth and innovation initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, contract law, and corporate governance, coupled with exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Legal Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement comprehensive legal strategies that align with the company’s objectives and mitigate legal risks.
- Provide strategic advice to the executive team and board of directors on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.

2. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the company complies with all local and international pharmaceutical regulations, including but not limited to licensing, clinical trials, marketing authorizations, and pharmacovigilance.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the pharmaceutical sector and advise the organization on necessary adjustments.

3. Contract Management:
- Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts with suppliers, partners, clinical research organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain a contract management system to ensure timely renewals and compliance with contractual obligations.

4. Litigation Management:
- Manage and oversee any litigation or dispute resolution processes, including hiring and coordinating with external legal counsel as needed.
- Develop strategies to minimize litigation risks and protect the company’s interests in legal matters.

5. Intellectual Property (IP) Management:
- Oversee the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Advise on IP-related issues, including licensing agreements and enforcement of IP rights.

6. Training and Development:
- Provide legal training and resources to employees to foster a culture of compliance and ethical business practices.
- Lead the legal team, promoting professional development and ensuring high performance.

7. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary legal representative for the company in discussions with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, marketing, and finance, to support business objectives and initiatives.

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution.
- Admission to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction (UAE or other).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal role within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, contract law, and corporate governance.
- Proven experience in managing complex legal issues and leading a legal team.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
