Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Marine Biologist to join our dynamic team in the Transportation and Logistics sector. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of marine ecosystems, species behavior, and the impact of transportation activities on marine environments. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our logistics operations adhere to environmental standards while promoting sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on marine ecosystems and biodiversity to assess the impact of transportation and logistics activities, including shipping, freight, and marine transport.
- Collaborate with environmental consultants and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with local and international marine conservation laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize the ecological footprint of marine logistics operations, advocating for sustainable practices.
- Monitor and analyze the effects of transportation-related activities on marine life and habitats, producing detailed reports and recommendations for management.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to provide guidance on best practices for marine biodiversity conservation in logistics operations.
- Participate in field studies and surveys to collect biological data and assess the health of marine ecosystems affected by transportation activities.
- Educate and train staff on marine conservation issues and the importance of sustainable practices within the logistics sector.
- Stay updated on the latest research and developments in marine biology, environmental policies, and logistics technology to inform company practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- A minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in marine biology, with a focus on the impacts of transportation and logistics on marine environments.
- Strong understanding of marine ecosystems, species identification, and conservation practices.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and understanding of environmental compliance standards related to marine transport.
- Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
