Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Merchant Marine professional with a strong background in the pharmaceuticals sector to join our team based in Dubai. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the transportation and logistics of pharmaceutical products across international waters, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining the integrity of sensitive cargo.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation Management: Oversee the safe and efficient transportation of pharmaceutical products via sea routes, ensuring adherence to shipping schedules and protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all maritime operations comply with local and international regulations concerning the transportation of pharmaceuticals, including adherence to health and safety standards.
- Cargo Handling: Supervise the loading and unloading of pharmaceutical cargo, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed to maintain product integrity and prevent contamination.
- Logistics Coordination: Work closely with logistics teams to plan and coordinate shipping routes, manage inventory levels, and optimize transportation costs.
- Vessel Maintenance: Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that vessels are properly maintained and equipped for transporting pharmaceutical products, focusing on cleanliness and safety measures.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and compliance reports. Prepare regular reports on shipping operations and performance metrics.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks during transportation and implement mitigation strategies to ensure the secure delivery of pharmaceutical products.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with suppliers, shipping companies, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to address any issues related to shipping and logistics, ensuring transparent communication throughout the process.
- Training and Development: Provide guidance and training to crew members on best practices for handling pharmaceutical cargo, including emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in maritime operations, specifically within the pharmaceuticals industry.
- Valid maritime certifications and licenses as required (e.g., STCW, GMDSS).
- Strong understanding of international shipping regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in using shipping and logistics software.
