Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Wine Buyer to join our esteemed educational institution based in Dubai. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for wine, an understanding of the market, and the ability to curate a selection that enhances our educational programs and events. This role is integral to our mission of providing an exceptional experience for our students, faculty, and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough research on current wine market trends, including pricing, sourcing, and consumer preferences, to inform purchasing decisions.

- Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with wine suppliers and distributors, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring quality products that meet our educational standards.

- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection of wines is available for educational purposes and events. Implement effective stock management practices to minimize waste and ensure freshness.

- Curating Selections: Develop a curated wine list that reflects both local and international offerings, catering to various tastes and educational goals. Ensure that selections align with our institution's values and standards.

- Educational Program Support: Collaborate with faculty and event planners to provide wine for educational events, tastings, and workshops. Offer expertise in selecting wines that complement culinary programs and enhance learning experiences.

- Budget Management: Collaborate with the finance team to create and manage the wine purchasing budget, ensuring alignment with overall institutional financial goals.

- Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks on wine stock, ensuring all products meet industry standards and are stored properly.

- Training and Development: Provide training sessions and workshops for staff and students on wine selection, tasting techniques, and responsible consumption, enhancing the educational experience related to wine and hospitality.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in wine buying, purchasing, or a related role within the hospitality or education sector.
- Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and production methods.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passion for education and a commitment to enhancing the learning environment.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
