Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Genetic Counselor to join our dynamic team in the pharmaceutical sector in Dubai. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing genetic counseling services, advising patients on genetic conditions, and contributing to the development and implementation of genetic testing services within our organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of genetics and pharmaceuticals, helping to inform treatment options and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Patient Counseling: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients and their families regarding genetic conditions, interpreting family history, and explaining genetic concepts to patients and their families in a clear and compassionate manner.

- Testing Coordination: Collaborate with healthcare providers to determine the appropriateness of genetic testing and help coordinate the testing process, including pre-test and post-test counseling.

- Result Interpretation: Analyze and interpret genetic test results, providing patients with clear explanations of findings, implications, and potential health management options.

- Education and Resources: Develop educational materials and resources for patients and healthcare professionals regarding genetic conditions, testing options, and treatment pathways.

- Research and Development: Participate in research initiatives related to genetics and pharmaceuticals, contributing insights and findings that may influence product development and clinical practices.

- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geneticists, physicians, and researchers, to ensure comprehensive patient care and to facilitate effective communication of genetic information.

- Advocacy: Advocate for patients by helping them understand their rights regarding genetic testing and privacy, and support them through the decision-making process.

- Continuous Learning: Stay current with advancements in genetics and genomics, as well as changes in regulations and best practices in genetic counseling, to provide the highest level of care.

Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
- Certification by a recognized board (such as the American Board of Genetic Counseling or equivalent) is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 to 7 years of clinical experience in genetic counseling, preferably within a pharmaceutical or clinical research setting.
- Strong understanding of genetic principles, testing methodologies, and their application in patient care and treatment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously.
