Job Description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Historian to join our team in Abu Dhabi, specializing in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of historical research methodologies, particularly as they relate to the development and evolution of energy systems, policies, and practices in the UAE and globally. This position requires a combination of research expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex historical narratives effectively to a diverse audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive historical research on energy practices, policies, and technologies, focusing on the UAE and its role in the global energy landscape.
- Analyze historical data and trends to assess the development of energy resources, including oil, gas, renewable energy, and alternative energy sources.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing research findings, providing insights into the historical context of energy policies and practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support projects that require historical perspectives on energy-related issues.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive archive of materials related to the history of energy in the UAE, including documents, photographs, and oral histories.
- Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, educational institutions, and industry partners, to disseminate research findings and promote knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Organize and participate in workshops, seminars, and public lectures to raise awareness of historical perspectives on energy.
- Assist in the development of educational materials and resources for students and the general public, fostering a greater understanding of the energy sector's historical evolution.
- Stay updated on recent developments in energy research and history, incorporating new methodologies and findings into ongoing projects.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in History, Energy Studies, or a related field. A Ph.D. is preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in historical research, preferably with a focus on the energy sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data and information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Proficient in using research databases, archival resources, and digital tools for historical analysis.
- Knowledge of the energy sector, including an understanding of key developments and challenges in energy production, consumption, and policy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with archival preservation techniques and best practices is an advantage.
