Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Policy Officer to join our team in Abu Dhabi, focusing on agricultural policy development and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural economics, public policy, and stakeholder engagement. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for sustainable agriculture and the ability to navigate complex policy environments.

Key Responsibilities:

- Policy Development: Lead the research, analysis, and formulation of agricultural policies that promote sustainability, food security, and economic development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with national and regional agricultural strategies.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, private sector partners, and academic institutions. Facilitate dialogue and collaboration to support policy initiatives.

- Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research on current agricultural trends, best practices, and emerging issues. Analyze data to inform policy recommendations and evaluate the impact of existing policies.

- Advocacy and Communication: Develop clear and persuasive communication materials, including policy briefs, reports, and presentations. Advocate for policy priorities to government officials, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.

- Program Management: Oversee the implementation of policy initiatives and programs, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget. Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to inform future policy development.

- Capacity Building: Provide training and support to stakeholders on agricultural policy issues and best practices. Foster knowledge sharing and collaboration among partners to enhance policy effectiveness.

- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Prepare and submit reports to management and stakeholders on policy performance and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

- Education: A Master’s degree in Public Policy, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field is required.

- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in policy development, preferably in the agricultural sector. Experience in the UAE or the Gulf region is highly desirable.

- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build consensus around policy initiatives.
- Knowledge of agricultural policies, sustainable farming practices, and food security issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software.
