Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Manager to join our dynamic team in the education sector based in Dubai. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal affairs, particularly within the education industry, and will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations while supporting the overall objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Compliance:
- Ensure that the organization complies with all local, national, and international laws and regulations related to the education sector.
- Monitor changes in legislation that may affect the organization and provide timely advice to management.
2. Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, agreements, and documents related to partnerships, collaborations, and service providers.
- Maintain a repository of legal documents and ensure that all contracts are executed and monitored for compliance.
3. Dispute Resolution:
- Manage and resolve any legal disputes that may arise, including but not limited to student grievances, employment-related issues, and contractual disputes.
- Liaise with external legal counsel when necessary and oversee litigation processes.
4. Policy Development:
- Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on legal matters and best practices.
5. Risk Management:
- Identify potential legal risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them.
- Conduct regular audits of legal compliance and risk management practices.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with various departments, including HR, finance, and academic affairs, to ensure legal considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for legal inquiries from staff, students, and external parties.
7. Reporting:
- Prepare and present legal reports to senior management and the board, outlining legal risks, compliance status, and recommendations for action.
- Maintain accurate records of all legal activities and communications.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) is required; a Master’s degree (LLM) or relevant professional qualification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years and maximum of 7 years of legal experience, preferably in the education sector or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of UAE laws and regulations pertaining to education, labor, and commercial matters.
- Proven experience in contract negotiation, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
